Last year, our school applied $500,000 from the English Enhancement Grant Scheme (EDB) to develop our school-based English phonic programme (Read Write Inc Phonics Programme) for P.1 to P.3 in Key Stage 1. It is a programme provided by Oxford University Press.

The scheme provides an excellent opportunity for our school to build upon existing resources to to strengthen students’ foundation in phonics and vocabulary, and to provide students with a more cohesive and structured training in reading and writing skills in order to extend student learning from classroom to home, cater for learner diversity, motivate students to learn English and enrich students’ self-directed learning skills. We would also like to take this opportunity to enhance our teachers’ professional development by conducting workshops on innovative teaching methods.
